Lucknowi Chikankari Sarees, Made to Order

A chikankari saree is the quietest way to wear six metres of hand embroidery. Tehzeeb's sarees are worked in Lucknow in ek taar, do taar and haath jaali on pure georgette, organza silk and chiffon, and each is made to order: you choose the fabric, the colour and the density of the work, and the artisans begin from there.

The collection runs from an all-white ek taar saree for a daytime wedding to parsi gara and mukaish pieces for a reception. Because every saree is embroidered to commission, the blouse can be matched, the pallu made heavier or lighter, and the border extended.

To enquire about any saree, use the WhatsApp button on its page. We answer with close-up photographs of the embroidery, the fabric options and a delivery date before you commit.

Questions we are asked

How long does a hand embroidered chikankari saree take?

It depends on the thread and the coverage. A lighter do taar saree is a matter of weeks; a fully worked ek taar or haath jaali saree takes months, because the finer the thread the more stitches each motif needs. We confirm a delivery date for your saree before the first stitch.

Which fabric is best for a chikankari saree?

Pure georgette is the classic: it carries fine embroidery well, drapes softly and suits long days. Organza silk holds a crisper shape and shows jaali work like lace. Chiffon is the lightest. All three are available for most designs; tell us the occasion and the season and we will suggest one.

Can I order a chikankari saree for a wedding in a specific colour?

Yes. Every saree is made to order, so the base colour, the thread colour and the blouse are chosen with you. Ivory, blush and pastels show the embroidery most clearly; deeper colours turn it into a texture, which is lovely in silk.

Do you ship chikankari sarees outside India?

Yes, worldwide. Measurements for the blouse are taken by video or from a garment you already own, and we tell you the shipping time and any duties for your country before you order.
